NECBOA—Area 10
(Board Meeting Minutes: September 9, 2007)
(3:00pm @ Brush Schools District Office)


Board Members:
Present: Chris Packer (2006), Jeff Gotto (2007), James DePue (2006), Jason Bandy (2007), Bart Odwyer (2006)
Absent: Dana Chintala (2007), Jon Smithburg (2007), Mike Odwyer (2006)

 

Area Directors:

Present: Brad Weisensee, Bob Knudson

Proceedings:

Ø      Jason Bandy motioned to approve

Ø      Jeff Gotto second

Ø      Minutes approved unanimously

Ø      Deposit of $330.00 from Golf Outing

Ø      Check of $250.00 to Assignbyweb

Ø      Jeff did not have an exact balance to date.

Ø      Brad Weisensee is now one of the Area 10 Directors and his seat on the board is vacant.

Ø      It was discussed whether the position should be appointed or remain open until the January election to fill the position.

Ø      James DePue motioned to leave the position unfilled until the January Meeting

Ø      Jason Bandy second

Ø      Motion passed unanimously

Ø      Area 10 dues will remain the same as 2006-07 which was set at $5.00

Ø      Officials who have not paid 2006-07 season will owe $10.00

Ø      Officials must have dues for 2007-08 and any delinquent dues paid to be eligible for 2008 post season games

Ø      Tracking system for who has paid was discussed

Ø      James DePue will develop spread sheet to track officials who have paid

Ø      Officials will be held accountable for the 2007-08 season

Ø      Criteria

ü      State Dues paid

ü      Area 10 dues paid

ü      Meeting dates attended (4 meetings)

ü      Evaluations (1 every 2 years)

ü      Master Clinic attended (1 every 2 years)

Ø      Speakers to present at meeting

ü      Tom Robinson and Chuck Howell—rules and post season criteria

ü      Brad Weisensee will contact Tom & Chuck

Ø      Test will be held at 6pm to allow new officials to attend the regular meeting

Ø      Board meeting will be held at 6pm

Ø      General meeting will begin at 7pm

Ø      Recruitment of new officials

ü      Ad will be ran in the Mile Saver

ü      Brad & Bart will send in ad

Ø      Jason will not assign

Ø      School Athletic Directors will be responsible for sub-varsity officials

Ø      Jason will provide Athletic Directors with a list of possible officials

Ø      Bob Strauch will evaluate games in Flagler

Ø      Chuck Godfrey to become CHSAA Post Season Committee Representative for Area 10, evaluate officials & attend CHSAA Selection Meeting

Ø      Jason Bandy to be CHSAA Post Season Committee Representative for Area 10 and will attend CHSAA Selection Meeting

Ø      Area 10 Representatives will be given list of top 25-30 officials as result of area votes from Athletic Directors and Coaches for 2006-07 season

Ø      Evaluations from Bob & Chuck will be considered and representatives will agree upon a list of officials to take to the CHSAA selection committee for Area 10

Ø      Jeff Gotto motioned to nominate Jason Bandy & Chuck Godfrey as Area 10 Representatives for the CHSAA Post-Season Selection Committee

Ø      Bart Odwyer second

Ø      Motion passed unanimously

Ø      Door prizes to reward officials who attend

ü      Officials Travel bag

ü      Gift certificate to ProSports

ü      Jason will get door prizes for November Meeting

Ø      Pullover jacket to be worn to games—prior to game starting

Ø      Increase professional dress prior to games

Ø      Will be optional for officials who wish to purchase one

Ø      Jason will bring an example jacket to November Meeting

Ø      New officials test @ 6pm

Ø      Board meeting @ 6pm

Ø      General meeting @ 7pm
